Caterpillar’s New S60 – Smartphone With FLIR

Starting with Caterpillar’s new rugged S60, thermal imaging sensors are starting to be built right into smartphones.

With Caterpillar’s new rugged S60, the Lepton sensor that allows FLIR cameras to see in total darkness has finally been integrated into the device itself, alongside its standard rear camera.

The rear 13 megapixel camera creates a hybrid image with the Lepton sensor by merging both live feeds together, to enhance deciphering of subject image.

Designed for engineers and those working in construction, it has been ruggedised to the same standard expected of Catapillar products.
